Saurus City

As a lighting tech for a stop-motion film, my primary responsibilities included creating lighting for sequences. I was assigned sets to light and created a new lighting setup for each scene taking place on that set, depending on the time of day and emotional context. I used the storyboarding and supervisor's instruction to ensure the light guided the narrative for the audience. I was also responsible for maintaining continuity between each unique sequence shot on those sets. In these images shown I am responsible for the lighting and the camera.

The training I received in lighting with live-action equipment for animation was a foundational experience that I've found has grounded my CG lighting. This project was particularly significant as it was my first experience with lighting for animation specifically, so I was able to learn the rules and limits of real, physical lighting and use that knowledge as a basis when I began learning CG lighting.
